Terms of Use
Last updated: 7/10/2026
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Tax Pro Local ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access or use the Site.
2. Description of Service
Tax Pro Local is a global directory and lead-generation marketplace connecting individuals and businesses seeking accounting, tax, and bookkeeping services with independent accounting firms and professionals. The Site also operates a job board that allows firms to post job openings and job seekers to build a professional Candidate Profile, apply for jobs, and message with hiring firms. We do not provide accounting, tax, legal, or employment advice ourselves, are not a party to any engagement between clients and listed firms, and are not a party to any employment relationship between candidates and firms.
3. User Accounts
When you create an account you must provide accurate and complete information and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. Firm Listings and Claims
Firms may be listed based on publicly available business information or created directly by firm owners. Firms may claim, update, or request removal of a listing through our verification process. We reserve the right to approve, reject, edit, feature, or remove any listing at our sole discretion, including for inaccurate information or violation of these Terms.
5. Reviews
Reviews must reflect genuine first-hand experiences with the firm being reviewed. We reserve the right to moderate, flag, or remove reviews that are fraudulent, defamatory, off-topic, contain spam, or otherwise violate our review guidelines.
6. Leads and Service Requests
Service requests ("leads") submitted through the Site may be shared with one or more accounting firms depending on the lead distribution model in effect (Free, Paid Credit, Paid Subscription, Exclusive, or Shared), and, where you have not targeted a specific firm, may also be listed publicly on the Site's open lead marketplace (search-engine-indexable pages organized by country, state/province, and city) so that any firm can review and claim it. Public lead listings never display your name, email address, or phone number — only your general request details and location.
Open until marked complete. A lead remains open and active — and, if publicly listed, continues to appear on the Site as an open request — until it is marked "Completed" by you (the requester), by a firm that has claimed or been matched to it, or by us (as platform administrator). Marking a lead Completed is a one-way action: once completed, the lead is permanently closed to further firm claims, unlocks, or payments, and any public listing will show a "Completed" status rather than being removed.
Lead payments are final. Amounts paid by firms to access, claim, or unlock a lead (whether via a per-lead credit, subscription allotment, or other paid distribution model) are final and non-refundable once the lead's contact details or claim have been granted, regardless of whether the requester ultimately responds, hires the firm, or hires any firm at all. Firms claim and pay for leads entirely at their own risk and are solely responsible for evaluating whether a given lead is worth pursuing.
No guarantee of service. Submitting a request does not guarantee any firm will respond, that you will ultimately hire a firm through the Site, or that any work will actually be performed. Tax Pro Local is a marketplace that facilitates introductions between requesters and firms; it does not vet, supervise, or guarantee the quality, licensing, or outcome of any firm's work. You are solely responsible for evaluating, selecting, and contracting with any firm you choose to work with — including reviewing any pitches or messages firms send you — and for conducting whatever due diligence you consider appropriate before engaging a firm.
7. Firm Service Pages
Eligible firms may create dedicated public "Service Pages" to market specific services, subject to the page-count limits of their subscription plan (plus any additional page slots purchased or granted by us). Service Pages are provided as a marketing and lead-generation tool for the paid marketplace and are subject to the following rules:
- No direct contact information. Service Pages may never contain a phone number, email address, contact form, or any other mechanism for a visitor to contact the firm directly. The only permitted call-to-action on a Service Page is our own lead-submission/request-service flow. This restriction exists to ensure that leads generated through Service Pages continue to flow through, and remain subject to, our lead marketplace, and firms may not use Service Pages to circumvent it. We use automated content screening to detect and block prohibited contact information, but firms remain solely responsible for ensuring their Service Page content complies with this rule, including within any custom images, file uploads, or freeform text they add.
- Content standards. Service Page content must be accurate, professional, and otherwise comply with the content standards applicable to firm listings under Section 4 above (no false, misleading, or fraudulent information; no unlawful, infringing, or abusive content).
- Our moderation and administrative rights. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion and at any time, without prior notice and without liability to the firm, to review, edit, approve, reject, suspend, unpublish, or permanently delete any Service Page — including for violation of these Terms, the no-contact-information rule above, or any other reason we deem appropriate to protect the integrity of the Site or the marketplace. A suspended or removed Service Page's URL may return a "not found" or "suspended" status to visitors and search engines. We may also independently create, edit and remove a Service Page for a firm and adjust, waive, or override any firm's Service Page plan limits, page allotment, or pricing at our discretion.
- Plan limits and pricing. The number of Service Pages included with a firm's subscription plan is set out on our Pricing page and in the firm dashboard, subject to a platform-wide maximum per firm regardless of plan. Firms may purchase additional Service Page slots beyond their plan's included allotment at the price then in effect, and such purchases are subject to the same final-sale, non-refundable terms described in Section 9 (Payments and Subscriptions) below.
8. Job Board, Candidate Profiles, and Applications
To apply for a job posted on the Site, you must create a complete, accurate Candidate Profile, including a headline, bio, application letter, resume, and at least one Work History or Education entry. Your Candidate Profile is public by default — including your application letter, and any employer/institution details (such as a company or school's public address, website, phone number, or description) that you choose to add to your Work History or Education entries. Before saving a Public profile, you must affirmatively acknowledge, via a checkbox, that you understand this information will be visible to the public, not only to firms you apply to. You may switch your profile to Private at any time, which removes it from public view.
By submitting a job application, you additionally consent to your Candidate Profile and application-specific materials (including your resume and any job-specific cover letter) being shared with the firm that posted the job. Firms may not use candidate information obtained through the Site for any purpose other than legitimate recruiting and hiring, and must comply with applicable employment and anti-discrimination laws in their jurisdiction. Firms and candidates are each solely responsible for the accuracy of any company or institution information they choose to enter, and agree to only include information that is genuinely publicly available. In-app messages exchanged between candidates and firms regarding a specific application are subject to the automatic retention/deletion schedule described in our Privacy Policy; you should not treat in-app messaging as a permanent record and should retain copies of anything you wish to keep long-term.
9. Payments and Subscriptions
Paid subscriptions, lead credits (including custom-quantity lead credit purchases), featured placements, and badges are billed according to the pricing and terms presented at checkout, processed through our supported payment gateways. All sales are final. All payments made on the Site — including but not limited to subscription fees, lead credit purchases of any quantity, featured placement fees, and badge fees — are strictly non-refundable, in whole or in part, regardless of usage, satisfaction, or outcome, except where a refund is expressly required by applicable law. You authorize us (and our payment processor) to charge your chosen payment method for all fees incurred. Firms may purchase lead credits in any quantity they choose at the then-current per-credit price; purchasing a larger quantity does not create any right to a refund, credit, or exchange for unused credits.
10. Outbound Links
The Site contains links to third-party websites (firm websites, job application URLs, social media profiles). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any linked third-party site. Outbound links are marked nofollow by default per our Privacy Policy's link policy, which is a search-engine/security convention only and does not constitute an endorsement or lack thereof of the destination site.
11. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to: use the Site for any unlawful purpose; submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information (including in listings, reviews, leads, Candidate Profiles, or job postings); scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data from the Site without our prior written permission; upload malicious files; impersonate any person or entity; or interfere with the security, integrity, or proper functioning of the Site.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on the Site, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of Tax Pro Local or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Content you submit (firm descriptions, reviews, Candidate Profiles, job postings, blog contributions) remains yours, but by submitting it you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it as part of operating the Site.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site and all listings, reviews, job postings, and Candidate Profiles are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, employability outcomes, or reliability of any listing, review, job posting, or candidate profile.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tax Pro Local shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, any services obtained through firms listed on the Site, or any employment relationship formed through the job board.
15. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, listing, or job posting at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms, without prior notice. This includes, without limitation, the right to suspend, unpublish, or permanently delete any Firm Service Page at any time, as described in Section 7 above.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Tax Pro Local operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
17. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time as our platform evolves. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. Contact
